Đậu xanh vo sạch, ngâm khoảng 2 tiếng đồng hồ cho mềm rồi đem nấu chín.
Cho đậu xanh đã nấu chín vào máy xay sinh tố, thêm ít nước và 50g đường, xay nhuyễn mịn. Cho 40ml dầu ăn vào chảo, thêm đậu xanh vào sen lửa nhỏ, sên 2-3 phút rồi cho vani và bột bánh dẻo đã hòa tan với nước vào, sên đến khi nhân đậu thành khối là được. Chia đều khối nhân thành những viên nhỏ nặng khoảng 75g, vê tròn.
Khoai lang tím gọt bỏ vỏ, cắt nhỏ rồi đem hấp chín. Sau đó, nghiền nhuyễn, lọc qua rây cho mịn. Cho chỗ khoai đã rau vào bếp sên 2-3 phút với lửa nhỏ cho ráo. Cuối cùng chia khoai thành mỗi phần đều nhau nặng khoảng 75g, vê tròn rồi ấn dẹp. Tiếp đến cho viên nhân đậu vào, bọc kín nhân lại, đặt vào khuôn tạo hình bánh trung thu là hoàn tất.
