First time with gimbal stabilizer and very much impressed!!!
I paid a little more than I liked but glad I did as I have not been disappointed using this as a complete beginner. My background is photography and been learning videography so completely new to the video side of things but after doing months of research and stumbled across this new stabilizer that came out, I opted this purchase this over the Crane 2 being the newer of the two (and I know there's a huge difference). Now at first, I thought I needed 5-axis if I'm running and what not but if you tilt it forward slightly it does pretty much eliminate (not perfect) the up & down motion of walking. <
> I will say the setup at first seemed overwhelming as the instruction is somewhat useless. But watching videos online it made me feel better I wasn't doing it wrong but did play around with it and made sense how the stabilizer worked. So it took me about an hour to really grasp the concept of how this gimbal worked but after that it was a breeze. The app works really well too even though the app itself also had a bit of a learning curve but learning the basics the last week or so. Being able to calibrate and test to make sure the stabilizer is setup correctly is a nice feature. It is a pain having to calibrate the stabilizer every time you change the lens or the whole setup but for what I do it's a non-issue. <
> The build is amazing including the metal tripod with all the grip surface with rubber texture finish. The battery is also phenomenal shooting for few hours only ate up 25% of the battery or less. I went through almost all the battery on my 6D MK ii during the same time. It's not until you start shooting and then watching the footage what a world of difference stabilizing makes. I literally threw some clips for a surprise engagement proposal and I had people telling me they were crying. I mean I barely know Premiere and just did smooth pan & tilt but tried to go for the cinematic effect with songs that match the mood but didn't expect that kind of reaction. And speaking of panning and tilting, it's BUTTER smooth. You can control how fast/slow including any dead zone but the way you can pan say left or right is so smooth with the joystick on the Ronin-S it's ridiculous DJI only is charging the $699. I have not used the 360 feature yet as I'm still learning but resetting the camera to be level with the trigger on the unit as well as tapping it for quick selfie for vlogging and whatnot makes this really fun to use. This can also be achieved remotely including controlling the camera's tilt/pan. If you wanted to, within the wireless range, you can control and shoot with the Ronin-S remotely! <
> I'm assuming due to the battery size and overall heavy duty build, it is NOT light at all. Granted, I shot with 6D MK ii (no grip) with Sigma 24mm f/1.4 Art lens, the setup alone felt pretty heavy to try and hold while tilting or panning. If you shoot all day I can see this becoming a problem. I'm not a huge guy but not skinny either. But I did find myself switching arms throughout the day. At least the tripod bottom can be unscrewed which has standard 3/8" and 1/4" mount you can stick any monopod or whatever support you have to help with the load. I was able to use my monopod just fine for doing a not-so-tall jib shot and worked well. With the weight I feel like I need something that saltwater fisherman use with the pole holder around the waist and another way to have the pole supported with a strap of some sort (which I'm thinking of). Also, supposedly this Ronin-S works with 6D MK ii using the optical cable but I've only had one very short success in starting the 6D MK ii from the Ronin-S handle. Not sure if there's something I'm doing wrong or is the setup but no matter what I do, it would not communicate with each other. I looked for a while searching online but if I figured it our or you know the solution please let me know. If this works it would be so much better than having to push the start/stop button on the camera itself. And to add, for external microphone like the Zoom H1 (or the new H1N), while it can be added no problem with the hotshoe adapter, it won't allow you to freely spin the DSLR setup going from regular position and moving it closer to the ground with the gimbal locked as the height gets in the way. I'm sure you can work around this with another device or position them in a way that it's tucked in. <

Amateur videographer and it works like a charm
As an amateur videographer, I have no idea what half of these reviewers are talking about when it comes to this device. To me, it works flawlessly. It was pretty easy for me to set up. I just followed the directions in the booklet that comes with it, I didn't even have to watch a video. You set up each axis (after you attach your camera) and away it goes. You don't technically have to install the software to use this, but I'd go ahead and recommend it. It made things a lot easier to calibrate. I put a Canon 5d Mark IV on mine but I don't see why you couldn't install any DSLR on it. You are going to be limited to what kind of lens you can put with your camera. You can't go TOO large on it as it will just out weight the motors. But it seems to be handling what I have with ease. As far as walking around with it I haven't had any issues. I think its funny watching some of the professional reviewers on here fighting with this device as I'm a complete noob and figured it out. Not trying to toot my horn or anything, just seems funny to me. Anyway, I think you will like it. I sucked at using a glidecam and could never quite get smooth footage with it. With this gimbal I got nice footage day 1. Have fun!

The Hype is Real.
Hype Confirmed. Better than any other stabilizer in the sub $5k range. Previous stabilizers include: Zhiyun Crane, Glide Cam, Ronin - M.

Good job DJI !
I am not sure I really familiar on the move but it’s the best at first sight Much better than the zhiyun crane Pro 2 .... I love some features like time lapse or 360 I will try it further and let you know in 5 weeks of use if I still like it

Great tool for smooth on the go video
I have nothing but good things to say about this. Balancing it is a bit of a chore at first but you find yourself getting the hang of it and making quick work of it pretty quickly. If you've every balanced a steadicam before, I find this quite a bit easier. Those that think this will do all the work for them will have a bit of a surprise. You have to do the work like any other stabilizer, rolling your steps and everything else, to get the best results. I needed some panning shots of the lake and literally held it out the side of a car and got amazing results. Read all the directions as they are there for a reason and you should be very happy.

This is the best gimbal for me hands down.
This is my absolute favorite purchase of 2018! As you can imagine, like most professionals, you need to invest quite a great deal into your equipment. The Ronin-S has effectively replaced my more expensive, bulkier, and less aesthetic rig, AND it does a better job. The best part is the incredible weight capacity, and the fact I was able to put this together in 10 minutes and shoot straight out of box after watching only one set up video. The Only downside which becomes non existent with further product development - is the range of cameras capable of using the focus wheel. I also never knew how much I wanted the tripod base until I used it and thought, "you know you can never go back after this..." Lol!

Great for sony A7III
I use the ronin to shoot wedding videos, and after the recent firmware update this thing rocks. You can use all the features with the sony a7iii. Such as rock focus, record on and off, and with the app you can remotely control your camera and ronin it's great

Best Gimbal I've Used
I've used the Ronin M, Pilotfly H2, Crane, etc and this is the best one I have used. The setup was simple. The app is easy to use. The battery lasts all day. The Pilotfly had a terrible app and the user interface was so difficult. The DJI app is simple and lets you do exactly what you need to do. The battery doesn't last as long as the Crane or Pilotfly but it gives you a percentage so at least you know when you need to charge. Balancing took me less than five minutes and I was using it less than 20 minutes out of the box. I haven't used it much but from what I see it's the most user friendly gimbal there is.

Changed My Videos Forever
Where do I even begin? I bought a Glidecam knockoff when I started video because everyone said that steadycams were better than gimbals because they are more reliable. I also bought it since it was only like $150. Weeeeeellllll after spending countless hours with the thing, I was still never able to get smooth shots with it. Fast forward to me actually making a career out of video and being in scenarios where I NEED smooth shots. I did an incredible amount of research and decided on the Ronin S. It took a very small amount of time to learn how to use it well. There are countless videos describing settings and different shots you can get with it. The Ronin S is quick to balance, easy to use, has a very long battery life, and has a very solid quality build. This purchase has improved my videos drastically and is well worth the money if you use it to make money.

I hate stabilizers! But i love the Ronin S!
I absolutely love my Ronin S. This thing is such a pleasure to use. It’s solid and the results are super professional. I am a fashion / Runway photographer in NYC and I also shoot video for brands. I absolutely hate using stabilizers but i look forward to using this amazing device. As usual DJI puts out pure quality and professional gear. I recommend this over any other stabilizer I’ve used.
